Environment
When you’re training your dog, keeping notes can be especially helpful. Where you train, and even the time of day can all impact your training.
Conditions
The weather can make a difference too. Even if you’re inside, in a climate-controlled room, your dog and you can still be feeling the effects of the weather outside. If it’s really hot, really cold, or even really humid – these all affect how your dog performs. And if these conditions affect your dog in training, you can bet they’ll affect your dog in competition.
Behaviors
It’s also crucial to log the behaviors you trained – a piece of the behavior or the finished product. Also the rewards used can make a difference. You’ll also want to note what worked and what didn’t work.
Training Log
Your Obedience Training Log makes it easy to track your dog’s progress for any behavior. For each training session, note what worked, what didn’t, the location and conditions, and your ideas for next time.
Obedience Competition Log
Both you and your dog feel different at a trial. In your Competition Log, you can identify the trial, location, judge, conditions and your comments about each. What went well and your ideas for training. There’s also a handy grid to track your qualifying scores and points in your quest for more advanced titles – UDX, Master and OTCH.
